Our motto, BACK TO NATURE BACK TO NATURAL.
We do not sell our pigs to feed lots, or production pork houses, where pigs are fattened onon grain, soy and other supplements. Instead, we keep all our animals here at the farm, where they forage on pasture, their native diet. We do not treat our livestock with hormones or feed them growth-promoting additives. As a result, the animals grow at a natural pace. For these reasons and more, our grass-fed animals live low-stress lives and are so healthy there is no reason to treat them with antibiotics or other drugs.
More Nutritious. A major benefit of raising animals on pasture is that their products are healthier for you. For example, compared with feedlot meat, meat from grass-fed beef, bison, lamb and goats has less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and a number of health-promoting fats, including omega-3 fatty acids and “conjugated linoleic acid,” or CLA. All animals on the farm are raised in large open pens or free range on pasture. We feed only NON GMO alfalfa and peas which are legumes and are a pigs original natural diet. Pigs from the early 1800's were grazing animals. Its only been in the past century that pigs have been bred toward a grain based fast paced growth diet. Cranky Carl's prides itself on going back to basics. Back to the land.
All of our animals are raised hormone, anitibiotic and chemical free, ensuring only the best most natural meat is server on your table.

Pork is from Heritage Hogs, Large Black Hogs or Red Wattle Hogs, fed alfalfa and barely, plus organic mineral supplements. All meat offered here is chemical/nitrate free.
